The Incredibles: Save the Day
Designer: Prospero Hall
Publisher: Wonder Forge
Making a good, cooperative game game can be tricky. You don’t want it to feel either too programmatical or too random; and you want every player to feel like they are involved and contributing. But, The Incredibles: Save the Day game might be the best cooperative game I got the pleasure to be involved with making. Taking the role of either Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Violet or Dash (with Jack-Jack being represented as a randomizing dice), players race around town stopping bad guys and performing other heroic deeds. It’s a surprisingly elegant game design, to match it’s striking packaging.
As a Product Designer on this game, my contributions included:
Designing the initial box concept for game pitch.
Designing the color scheme and iconography system, including unique player dice.
Working with an illustrator to develop gameboard layout, including reversible game board tiles that are flipped when a crime or crisis is occurring.
Graphic design on game board, cards and other components.
