The Incredibles: Save the Day

Making a good, cooperative game game can be tricky. You don’t want it to feel either too programmatical or too random; and you want every player to feel like they are involved and contributing. But, The Incredibles: Save the Day game might be the best cooperative game I got the pleasure to be involved with making. Taking the role of either Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Violet or Dash (with Jack-Jack being represented as a randomizing dice), players race around town stopping bad guys and performing other heroic deeds. It’s a surprisingly elegant game design, to match it’s striking packaging.

As a Product Designer on this game, my contributions included:

  • Designing the initial box concept for game pitch.

  • Designing the color scheme and iconography system, including unique player dice.

  • Working with an illustrator to develop gameboard layout, including reversible game board tiles that are flipped when a crime or crisis is occurring.

  • Graphic design on game board, cards and other components.
